OMP’s charity dental and medical outreach in the Philippines

At Oral Myology Perth, care goes beyond the clinic. Since 2023, our team has been involved in annual charity dental and medical outreach work in the Philippines, supporting communities through practical, hands-on care.

For us, this work is about more than volunteering. It reflects the values that shape how we practise every day: showing up, helping where we can, and using our skills in a way that is practical, respectful, and people-first.

Why this work matters

While our day-to-day work in Perth focuses on helping children and families through personalised care, we also believe in contributing beyond our local community. Outreach work gives us the chance to use our training in a practical setting and support people who may have limited access to services.

What began in 2023 has continued each year since, becoming an ongoing part of our commitment to community outreach.

Supporting communities through hands-on care

The photos from the outreach show children receiving treatment, busy community spaces filled with families, team photos, and event banners that reflect the scale and coordination behind the work. Across the images, clinicians are providing dental care in community settings, large group gatherings are taking place, and volunteers are working together to deliver support where it is needed most.

This kind of work takes more than clinical knowledge. It takes teamwork, preparation, flexibility, and a willingness to work in environments that look very different from a standard practice setting.

A shared effort

One of the clearest things shown in the images is that this is a genuine team effort.

It is not one person working alone. It is a coordinated outreach initiative involving healthcare workers, organisers, volunteers, and the local community. The photos show strong attendance, multiple treatment areas, and a shared focus on delivering practical help to as many people as possible.

That is part of what makes outreach work like this so meaningful. It depends on people coming together with a clear purpose and contributing their time and skills in service of others.

More than treatment

Charity dental and medical outreach is about treatment, but it is also about access, dignity, and presence.

Sometimes the biggest impact is not only the care provided on the day. It is also the fact that people are seen, supported, and given access to healthcare in a setting where that support can make a real difference.

That is what stays with you. It is a reminder that healthcare should be human, practical, and responsive to the needs of the community.

Why OMP chooses to be involved

At OMP, we care about people, not just appointments. Being involved in this outreach reflects the same values that guide our work at home: compassion, service, and a commitment to improving lives through thoughtful care.

We are proud to contribute to an effort that supports communities in the Philippines in a meaningful and practical way. It is work we value deeply and something we are grateful to be part of.

Looking ahead

As this outreach continues, we look forward to supporting it in the years ahead.

Giving back is an important part of who we are. We are proud to play a small part in this ongoing work and grateful to be involved in an effort that delivers practical care to communities in the Philippines.
